A Beautiful Fall Wedding at Rocky River Vineyards
This wedding was especially near and dear to my heart because the bride, Emily was one of my childhood best friends. We met in the 5th grade and have been inseparable since. We cheered together all throughout high-school and spent an equal amount of time at each other’s house on the weekends. We took off to college together and even though I ended up going to a different school after our first semester, got married and had babies pretty quickly, we remained best friends. When she asked me to not only be a bridesmaid in her wedding, but to also document her big day… I did not hesitate to say “ABSOLUTELY” to both questions.
“Kristofer and I met via his job at the car dealership I used to use for service. He was the manager and I text him to request a service appointment a few days before thanksgiving, he text me on thanksgiving to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving, which I thought was weird but didn’t think too much about it. It turns out, it was an accident and he meant to text a coworker!! We were both going through some difficult times and we agreed to meet for drinks one night to “meet” in person. He deemed that night our first “date” and the rest is history! We talked and talked and they had to kick us out of the restaurant because they had to close!”
When I asked about the proposal Emily said, “I planned a Labor Day weekend trip to Massachusetts to visit my family, it was spur of the moment so Kris only had about 2 weeks’ notice. Apparently, he had been planning to propose to me and was looking for the right time, but I presented the opportunity to him a bit sooner than he expected so he had to scramble! When we first arrived, we went out on the boat with my family and had a great day, the next day we had planned to visit Boston to sightsee. I was prepared to be the best tour guide ever, but little did I know Kris had something of his own planned! He had asked my dad on the prior day if he could marry me, and in the most beautiful, secluded little corner of the north end, by a fountain, he asked me to love him forever.”
I asked them both what their favorite part of the day was and they said, “To be honest, I was so worried about my nerves and emotions.. but once I got to the end of the aisle and met my love. we looked each other in the eyes and smiled and all of that disappeared. that is agreeably both of our favorites.”
What is ONE word of advice that you would give to a future bride planning her wedding?
“Remember that it is your day, it is about you and your partner. Don’t get caught up trying to please others. Nothing can replace the feeling of calling one another “man and wife.” Cherish the process and the journey to get there!”
